Milestones

The City of Zurich is proud to be one of the main host city for UEFA Women's EURO 2025, alongside Basel, Bern, and Geneva. The Office of Sport, an institution belonging to the Department of School and Sport of the City of Zurich, is responsible for organizing the tournament in Zurich. It is putting together the activities surrounding the tournament in Zurich, operating the Letzigrund Stadium as a venue, and implementing long-term measures to ensure that the tournament leaves a lasting legacy.

The Swiss Football Association (SFV) decides to submit a bid to host UEFA Women's EURO 2025.

October 2022

The Swiss Football Association submits Switzerland's bid, including the Letzigrund Stadium as one of the venues.

The Zurich City Council approves expenditure of CHF 18.45 million for the staging of the tournament in Zurich.

The City of Zurich is launching its central accompanying measure in Zurich schools: with «ZüriKick,»girls aged 10 to 15 in Zurich will benefit from additional soccer opportunities. The free soccer courses take place weekly at school facilities.

Zurich launches the light art project «Red Goals»: Ten large football goals illuminate well-known locations in the city of Zurich in a special light in the evening and at night. The project draws attention to the tournament.

Zurich launches the ZüriCityWalk: On this self guided city tour, visitors discover the city's highlights, the stories of nine strong women and elements of the tournament, such as an oversized match ball. The city space is getting equipped with another selfie spot, a sculpture of the tournament mascot «Maddli».
